Car Rental Coffs Harbour Downtown

Coffs Harbour is one of the top places to visit on the NSW coast. It sits around a 3-hour drive from the Queensland border and is nearly 550 kilometres north of Sydney. Coffs Harbour is known for its banana trade, the ‘Big Banana’, and its banana-themed theme park.

Coffs Harbour is growing in popularity due to its stunning beaches, great food and boutique shopping. There are so many places to drive and attractions to see both inside Coffs Harbour and the surrounding area. Within a short drive, you can take your car hire to no less than 12 national parks, forest reserves and marine reserves. It is this 'double' of fantastic coastal city attractions and nature that gives Coffs Harbour the best of both worlds. There are also some stunning  must-see and drive experience around Coffs Harbour.

There are many memorable activities on the coast to experience, from national parks that offer the most diverse stretches of rainforest on earth, to whale watching thousands of humpback whales. Many of these stunning locations are just a short walk from car parks, meaning you can see pristine nature without having to trek too far. Of course, you always have the option of going off script, parking the hire car, and taking a multi-day hike into one of the many rainforests.

You don't have to leave Coffs Harbour to see stunning attractions. Visit the Dolphin Marine Conservation Park in Coffs Harbour, a centre for rescuing, rehabilitating and then releasing marine animals. You can see dolphins and seals up close as they are cared for by the staff at the centre. With opportunities to meet dolphins, tiny penguins and more, it is a popular day out in Coffs Harbour. Perhaps seeing the animals in their natural environment is more up your alley? Then head to the Solitary Islands Marine Park, 71,000 hectares of protected space, starting in Coffs Harbour and reaching north to the Sandon River. The marine park is home to more than 550 species of reef fish, 90 species of hard coral and 600 different types of molluscs. Explore the beaches, the snorkelling spots and enjoy a day out on a boat.

The Big Banana Fun Park has something for big kids and regular kids, with rides, laser tag, arcade games, animals, water slides and other amusement park activities all on offer. Not many people think of ice skating when it comes to the New South Wales coast, but there is an indoor ice-skating rink at the fun park. You can also test your skills in a friendly game of mini-golf until it's down to the last ball. The Big Banana Fun Park is just a 7-minute drive outside Coffs Harbour.

With a Car Hire, There's Nature everywhere you Look

Take a drive from Coffs Harbour to Armidale. This scenic drive is known as Waterfall Way; because, you guessed it, it's full of waterfalls! The drive will take you through five national parks across 210 kilometres. The drive is around 3 hours, but with all the stop-offs along the way, it becomes a full day activity, so give some time to relax at each stop. You will see waterfalls, pristine rainforests, koalas, small towns and more along this drive. There are many tours on offer if you decide to stop for longer at each location, with some interesting Aboriginal tours discussing the use of plants and animals and the importance of the area in Aboriginal society and heritage. Some of the great stops include Oxley Wild Rivers National Park and Dorrigo National Park. You will finish the journey in Armidale, known as Cathedral City. Full of heritage locations and museums. It is an unforgettable drive and one you will want to do more than once.
