Car Rental Perth Airport

When you arrive in beautiful Perth, you’ll be guaranteed a warm, sunny welcome. A dynamic city in the largest state in Australia, Perth locals are renowned for their big smiles and hospitality, giving the place its friendly reputation and sophisticated flavour. One of the most isolated yet buoyant capital cities in the world, Perth is constantly reinventing itself as an exciting urban destination. Go west and you’ll be sure to experience a journey with a difference.

Perth Airport is perfectly located so you can head straight for the hills to the Darling Ranges, enjoy a short drive through the Swan Valley wineries, take the scenic route along the 120km of metropolitan coastline, or venture further away for a southerly weekend in Margaret River.

If you’re seeking something more cosmopolitan in the heart of the city, there’s fashionable King Street; cafes, bookshops, His Majesty’s Theatre, and the main mall on Hay Street; the spanking new Elizabeth Quay precinct overlooking the shimmering city shoreline; a lively nightlife and cultural scene at Northbridge; as well as the popular inner-city neighbourhoods of Subiaco, Mt Lawley and Leederville, with a range of bars and great eats.

While shopping, entertainment and culture abound in this world-class city, when you need some time to cool off away from the skyscrapers and crowds, it’s easy to find pockets of calm. Stroll down to the tranquil South Perth or city foreshores, or enjoy the sweeping views up at Kings Park. Want to unwind on the famed Perth beaches? Try Cottesloe, Scarborough and City Beach for starters. There’s something for every mood and holidaymaker in Perth!

Take off and get closer to nature in your hire car

The relaxed pace and breadth of natural beauty in Perth and surrounds, offers a wealth of opportunities to experience an amazingly memorable trip. Spend time in unspoilt nature reserves like Penguin Island. Drive 30 minutes south of the city, jump on a ferry, and five minutes later you’ll be visiting West Australia’s largest colony of little penguins – just in time for feeding!

Fancy a close encounter with a photogenic quokka? You’ll find this lovable marsupial flourishing on the offshore holiday playground of Rottnest Island. A ferry from Perth or Fremantle jetties will take you to ‘Rotto’ (as the locals call it) in under half-an-hour. Get sun-kissed on white sandy beaches, slip into the ocean, or if you’re feeling more active, hire a bike and ride around the 11km island. While there is some accommodation available for overnight stays, most visitors to Rotto are day-trippers. We recommend weighing anchor in Fremantle and enjoying a casual dinner in this delightful port city on your way home.

If you can’t get enough of nature and are keen to meet more of the local wildlife, head up north for another day trip to remember. Less than an hour from Perth’s CBD, you’ll find koalas, kangaroos and caves at Yanchep National Park. With the promise of adventure over miles of open road, a hire car allows you to soak up the many attractions and discover hidden wonders that are far and wide.

Go further and explore the great outdoors in a Thrifty hire car

If you want to make the most of what west coast living has to offer, there’s a full gamut of water sports available. Think like a local and adopt the popular pastimes of kayaking, jet-skiing, paragliding and kite-boarding, sailing and snorkelling. When the water is crystal clear and warm, you’ll just want to dive right in!

There’s so much of this vast state to explore, and a great place to get going for longer journeys is the South West corner of Western Australia. The sight of flawless beaches around Margaret River may entice you to take up surfing – and if you have a designated driver on board, don’t forget the acclaimed wineries and vineyards of the Margaret River region.

Keep driving further south and you’ll arrive at the majestic Karri and Jarrah forests around Pemberton and Manjimup, where a tramway can take you through the enchanting landscape. And when you turn your hire car around and backtrack to the coastal towns of Yallingup and Busselton, you won’t want to miss the breathtaking Ngilgi caves. Take a tour, long or short, and discover the history while you’re there.

If you are lucky enough to be in Western Australia during wildflower season, a dazzling treat for the eyes and senses awaits you. Unique and colourful blooms spread their magic across the state, from late June in the north to November in the south. Don’t miss this or any of the other spectacular sights in and beyond Perth.
